Preparation

  1. Bring the water to the boil with the sugar and cinnamon stick and let it boil for 20 minutes over low heat.

  2. Add the walnuts, roughly chopped, the raisins, the chopped figs, the butter and the Port wine. Stir and let it boil for another 10 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, cut the bread into small pieces and grind it. Add to the previous preparation. Let it boil, stirring constantly until dry.

  4. Remove from the heat and add the beaten egg yolks and mix. Cook for another 5 minutes.

  5. Remove the cinnamon stick, place in bowls or on a platter and let cool.

  6. Once cold, sprinkle with cinnamon powder.
