Preparation

  1. For the dough: in a bowl add the baker's yeast, milk, sugar, flour, melted butter and eggs. Mix all the ingredients well and beat vigorously for 7 minutes until a ball of elastic dough forms.

  2. Sprinkle the countertop with flour, place the dough on the countertop, knead for 5 minutes and form into a ball. Place the dough in the bowl, cover and leave to rise in a warm place for 60 minutes.

  3. When it has risen, sprinkle the counter with flour and roll out the dough on top using a kitchen roll. Place the bacon in strips and roll out the dough. Add the ham in pieces and roll out the dough again. Place the dough in the bowl, cover with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.

  4. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.

  5. When it has risen, sprinkle the countertop with flour, and roll out the dough on top using a kitchen roll. Cut the dough into two parts and form into ropes about 30 to 40cm long. Join the 2 ropes and form a braid, securing the dough tightly at the ends, roll it up until it forms two strips and secure the two ends.

  6. Place the dough in a pan greased with butter and sprinkled with flour. Brush the surface of the dough with beaten egg yolk.

  7. Bake at 180ºC for around 45 minutes. Let cool and serve.
