Preparation Time:30 mins | Proofing:1 hour | Cooking Time:30 mins
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Tbsp (soup) baker's yeast
- 300 ml of milk
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 600 g of flour
- 150 g of butter
- 1 egg + 1 yolk
- 100 ml of oil
- 1 tbsp salt
PREPARATION:
In a bowl, mix the milk, fresh yeast and sugar. Add the egg and oil. Mix well until everything is combined.
Then add the salt and flour and mix for about 7 minutes until the dough stops sticking to the bowl.
When the dough is ready, transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Dust your hands with a little flour and stretch the dough. Fold the dough. Cover with the bowl and let it rest for 15 minutes!
Line a baking tin with parchment paper or grease with butter and dust with flour.
After 15 minutes, open the dough into a square shape and spread 150g of melted butter over the entire surface.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200ºC.
Cut the dough into 4 parts and then into triangles. Make a small cut at the tip of each triangle — this will help with rolling. You can add a little filling before rolling, nutella, jam, whatever you prefer!
Place the croissants on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover and let them rest for another 20 minutes.
Brush with a mixture of 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of milk — this will give that beautiful golden colour.
Bake at 200ºC for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
You can eat them as they are or dust with a little icing sugar on top.
Serve with strawberry jam, nutella or any spread of your choice. And it's ready!
